Desktop Unix-like systems these days tend to make time_t a 64-bit signed
integer.

On the other hand, 32-bit systems still exist. They can still be
updated to use a 64-bit time_t, and I expect that's what will happen
between now and 2038, but so far I haven't heard of a system with 32-bit
long int and 64-bit time_t.
