I can't see anywhere in your post where you specify the size of a string
field. Maybe
{
"id": 12345,
"name": {"string": 32, "value": "John"},
"array": [ -3, 7, 8 ]
}
?
If you are interested in JSON style meta-languages, have a look at CTF
(Used for Linux trace data amongst other things).
