I was simply pointing out that the use of abstract types in C makes code written for one platform (in this case a 16 bit microcontroller) portable to another (a 64 bit desktop). Is this important to microcontroller programmers? Yes, because we like to be able to test our code on the desktop. As for a PC version of C, I see little value in it. We have C and we have a plethora of desktop languages to choose from. Why use a semi-skimmed language when the full fat one is available? The idea is even worse than low alcohol beer... -- Ian.
