Yes, there's a lot more than that. Semantic analysis (is that supposed
to be distinct from "semantic checking"?) includes resolving the
meanings of identifiers, creating symbol table entries, and so forth.
It's not possible to know whether
x + y
is valid until you've determined what x and y mean.
Unlike some languages, C can't even be parsed without symbol table
information, mostly due to "typedef".
