I am plotting two 2D plots side by side with multiplot, and the plots are too tall relative to the xy plane sides. I can't find a way to scale the z-axis down a bit, in the manual. How is it done? -- Dieter Britz

I had tried the example in the manual but overlooked that there are only two commas, meaning the other scales, not for z. I have another small problem with splot. The numbers at the tics are too close to the x- and y-axes, touching them. Can I get them at some distance from the axes, without resorting to a lot of set label ".." at ... ? -- Dieter Britz

It works for the x-axis, using set xtics offset 0,-0.5 but not for the y axis. No doubt I am missing something. The y-axis is labelled, in this 2D plot, on the right hand side, and I want to shift the numbers a bit to the right. What do I write to get this? The manual is a bit cryptic here. -- Dieter Britz
