The museum in my city used to have a mechanical "Tic Tac Toe" (Noughts and Crosses) machine that you could play and it was made mostly of old SxS relays and linefinders etc. (I only found out what they actually were years later when I was introduced to Step exchanges). This was back in the 1970's and it didn't take long to work out how to defeat the hardwired logic and win every game, but it was a pretty effective "kid magnet" and was very popular for the junior tech-heads.
