Fortunately, with PostgreSQL, there is no organisation for them to buy
out to get control over it.

They'd have to do it the legitimate way: contribute code improvements
subject to peer review, and have the results released as free software.
Somehow I don't see Oracle moving that way any time soon.

The folly of copyright assignment policies is looking worse all the time
