All, I have been collecting data about cities and the nation in a spreadsheet (LO Calc). I planned to move the data to LO Base, but those plans died when I learned that Base can't do the things I need, or work with other reporting software. So, I'm looking for suggestions on another database engine. Before going any further, let me explain a little about the project. I'm collecting data on cities and the nation. The list of cities is growing, however the data categories are stable - which are the database fields. I need to do reports that calculate highs, lows, averages, means, etc. This is standard reporting fare, so no big deal. However, I also need to have charts with up to four curves on the same axis. There are report generators that will do this, they just need JDBC or ODBC drivers for the database engine. Specific requirements (such that I know them) are: * Data size: <100 GB * Simultaneous transactions: 2 for now, 16 later, more if a web app. * Cost: Free (this proj. has low income pot'l.) * OS: Linux * Other: Time is tight, so easy is good SQL will be used Data types are int, float, memo Hope this is enough to get a recommendation. I have heard good words about MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL, but really don't know which is the most suitable. Dave,
