Hi,

today i tried to install the SQL Server 2012 Express with advanced tools. The
upgrade from SQL Server 2008 R2 Express fails because there was a corrupt
installation of the .Net framework 4.0. I repair the corrupted installation
and restart the install of the SQL Server 2012, but i get the message,
there's no previous version, theres no way the upgrade. With the Revo
Uninstaller, i uninstall all things named "Microsoft SQL Server". Now i think
a clean new install must work. I tried all versions off SQL Server 2012
Express, x86 and x64. I always got a Error-Box with no message, a white cross
in a red circle, the title "SQL Server..." and only a OK button. If i press
the button, the installation aborts.

I use Win7 Ultimate x64 with all service packs.

TIA, Karsten

Look in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Setup Bootstrap\Log. You
should find one directory per installation attempt. The log files are
certainly verbose, but you find something helpful there.

From your description, it appears that your machine was not in best shape
when you started.
