SubjectMS Access Report - Print Preview Issue
Message-ID<e4a38a9e-e6d8-48e8-a070-045feae5819f@googlegroups.com>
I have developed an MS Access 2016 database report, which has got some 150 text fields and two sub reports. This report is opening in report view and displaying data properly except date fields. However, it is not displaying anything in print preview. Initially the report was working fine, later it stopped. The select query, which pulls data form the table is okay and displaying data without any problem. I am looking for some kind help urgently as the project to be submitted soon.
Thanks in advance.

Throwing mud at the wall, hoping something sticks.

Are all date fields blank or just some in your report?

In your date field property sheet for Format see if mm/dd/yyyy makes any difference.

Maybe try opening the the query as a recordset. Then ensure the date field is a date. Let's say your field is called startdt, then do a
msgbox isdate(r.startdt) 'r being the recordset variable.
and verify the field really is a date field.

Apology for making misunderstanding.

Mentioned report is setup to print in A3 size paper and default view of the report is Print Preview. When I open the report, it does not show anything in the page, even the labels for the text boxes, just blank page. Also, it is worth to mention that the report has more pages, although it is setup for one page. I have tried to save this blank preview as .pdf file, but .pdf output file is corrupted.

Due to the above-mentioned scenario, I have tried to open the report in Report view to see what happens. For me I do not need to open it in report view. I am only interested in Print Preview.

Thanks for the reply

Still tossing mud at the wall.

First, open your report in design mode. Select the report and subreports and shrink the width by an inch on the right. I have a funny feeling your report is too wide for the paper size and is screwing up. Then run. Does that improve the report?

Next, create a new report with the query as the recordsource. Add only a few fields to a report, mostly date fields. Run the report. Is it OK?

Next, if all else fails, recreate the report. Stop/start/run the report as you recreate. See if you get better results.

Thank you so much.
I have copied the same database in another desktop and the report is opening in Print Preview without any problem. Later I tried the same in another eight desktops, but found the above-mentioned trouble in two desktops. Remaining six desktops it is working fine. I have no idea why the report is behaving in this way as in all desktops MS Access-2016 is installed.

Any suggestion, advice highly appreciated.

Do you have the relevant printer driver installed on the machines where the problem arises?

It could be that every computer has a different 'default' printer.

Hello Phil,
Apology for the delayed response. As you suggested, the problem happened due to default printer setup. Thank you so much.
