#11725 — A2003 database with invisible objets

FromBruno Campanini <brunocam@libero.it>
Date2016-04-02 17:14 +0200
SubjectA2003 database with invisible objets
Message-ID<ndonkl$1ocl$1@gioia.aioe.org>
I have an A2003 db with the database window containing only local
and linked tables, no more Modules, Forms, Reports.
I can display Hidden & System Objets and I see they contain
all the Modules, Forms and Reports I'm looking for.

I've tried to compact/repair the file but I get only the response:
"... you and another user are attempting to change the
same data at the same time."

As per the file size (7.06 mb) it appears the file
contains all the objects I need.
The file opens with both A2003 & A2016.

Any suggestions for recovering all the missed objects?

Bruno

If the 'hidden' property of an object is set could you switch it to unset?

Create a new .mdb and import the 'hidden' objects into it.

Have you ever imported 'hidden' object?

I am in 2013. Anyway, I set the Display Options to Show System Objects and Show Hidden Objects. I'm sure there is some setting for A2003 as well as I had a hidden object as well.

Yes. In both the source and destination .mdb, turn the 'show Hidden
objects' on.

I've switched both Hidden & System Objects on one week ago...
A2016 can't import what is System or Hidden objects, even if
they are visible.
Please don't suggest what you estimate, suggest what you
have experienced!

Please don't tell me what I have experienced. If I turn 'show Hidden
objects' on in both A2003 databases (source and destination), I can see
and import the Hidden objects into destination, from source.

That's for Tables, Queries, Forms, Reports, Macros and Modules.

When the objects are imported into the destination .mdb, they lose the
Hidden property.

You seem to have a corrupt .mdb.

Delete any unused .ldb files in the folder.

Try to decompile your database, then try to import the objects into
another .mdb.

I've written:
"""
I can display Hidden & System Objets and I see they contain
all the Modules, Forms and Reports I'm looking for.
"""

I didn't write:
"""
I can see as invisible objects all my Forms, Reports, and so on.
"""

I can read from the system tables, when switched visible, the list
of my Forms, Reports, Modules with all their parameters, but
there is no more trace, visible or not, of those Forms, Reports...
Clear enough now?

BTW, I found on the Internet just a program that recovered all
Form, Modules an 6 Reports of 18.
Like a miracle!

Don't be an asshole. Access 2016 is new, many are not using it. Be grateful anybody attempts to answer you.

We didn't hide your forms. You did. It's your problem, not ours.

You created a shitty post originally. We aren't mind readers. How'd you screw up and hide your forms? The only way I know how to do that is adding USys to the front of a name. Ex: USysMyFormName. IF you hid it some other way, let us know.

If you hid it with USys, unhide all the forms. Then rename each form name to something like MyUsysFormName. Now you can import into A2016. They aren't hidden. Then in a2016, rename back to original name.

IF you hid the forms some other screwy way, let us know. You might get a valid answer.
