I have a Report/Subreport in A2013. In the subreport, I want to print some items. For some odd reason Shrink is not working.

I have all Groups and Detail and Fields as Can Grow/Can Shrink set to Yes. None of the fields overlap any other field.

It prints out something like below. Items 2,3,4 do not have a part number. Nor do they have a board description. For some odd reason, in Item2, it prints a blank line where Partnum would be. Ex:
Board Description Line
Item 1 1/8 Fiberboard Size 1/15/2014
PartNumber 1
Item 2 Setup Charge

Item 3 Pallet Charge
Item 4 Other Charges

I will now kill off Item 2, It makes no diff if I add an Item5. It now looks like this
Board Description Line 1
Item 1 1/8 Fiberboard Size 1/15/2014
PartNumber 1
Item 3 Pallet Charge

Item 4 Other Charges
Item 5 Optional line

It appears the second line item is confused and adds a blank line where the partnum would be. Any idea why? The Board Descriptions and partnums are all Null except for the first record.

Hallo Patrick,

try to set set the default high of the textbox to a very small value,
but not '0' and then change the Can Grow/Can Shrink to only Can Grow.
Another solution is to check the field contents and conditionally set
the visibility to false or the hight of the textbox to 0.

Ulrich

I like your style, Ulrich. Thinking outside the box. I tried your first solution but it didn't work unfortunately. It was a good idea tho.
