Hi All,

This company I currently work for is moving to Access2007 from Access2003 and I converted one of my Access2003 applications to test and see if there would be any issues and I didn’t come up with anything major that would stop us from moving up using that app.

So, I converted another A03 which has several pop-up forms and they are not positioned in the same place under A07 as they were in A03. After messing around with them for a good 1.5 days I discovered that the issue was that the screen space that the A07 ribbon took up was causing the pop-up form to be shifted to a different location than it was in A03.
Now, any A03 app I convert to A07 that has pop-ups I’ll need to do some re-work of pop-up forms to get them to open in the same screen location as they did in A03.

Anybody else run into this issue? and what did you do to resolve it?
bobh.

Are you aware of the MoveSize command. may still give problems with different
size screens and resolutions You can of sourse run on Load

Private Sub Form_Load
DoCmd.ShowToolbat "Ribbon", acToolbarNo ' or Yes
End Sub

to use the MoveSize command you need to know twips and I can't find anything in A07 that tells me nbr of twips. If I remember correctly doesn't 1" = 1440 twips? but that doesn't help me.

anyone have a way to place a form and than get the nbr of twips from the left edge of the window?

Did you try adding the Left property of the Form and the Left property of
the Control, then multiplying by 1440? If you are using a version or option
which specifies dimensions in metric, you will, of course, have to convert
to inches before multiplying by 1440 -- if I understand your question
correctly, that will give you the number of twips you want.

If you want a different position number, there are Right, Top, Bottom,
Height, and Width Properties.

This routine OnOpenof a main form, Hides the database window,
puts the main form at the top left
opens 2 other forms immediately to the right of the main form, one at the top
and the other half way down As the form is continuous, the Move to end sub
shows the last 32 eecords

There are 1440 Twips / inch or 567 / cm. Mine is a wide form anout 20,000
twips wide. Quite frankly I tend to use trial and error to get the form in
the right place and I suspect the physical screen size and reolution will
affect the appearance on different monitors.

If you get a real problem, I THINK I have routines to get the screen size and
position accordingle, but if I remember correctly, it is pretty complex.

Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)

Dim FormWidth As Long, FormHeight As Long

    DoCmd.SelectObject acForm, Me.Name
    DoCmd.Restore

MoveToEnd ' Show last 12 records

    ' Hide the NavPane
    DoCmd.NavigateTo "acNavigationCategoryObjectType"
    DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdWindowHide

    FormWidth = Me.Width

    If Not IsLoaded("DirectDebits") Then
        DoCmd.OpenForm "DirectDebits"
        DoCmd.SelectObject acForm, "DirectDebits"
        DoCmd.MoveSize FormWidth + 650, 0
    End If

FormHeight ight = Me.FormHeader.Height + Me.FormFooter.Height +
(Me.Detail.Height * 36) ' 36 line

    If Not IsLoaded("ExpectedDividends") Then
        DoCmd.OpenForm "ExpectedDividends"
        DoCmd.SelectObject acForm, "ExpectedDividends"
        DoCmd.MoveSize FormWidth + 650, FormHeight / 2
    End If

    DoCmd.SelectObject acForm, Me.Name
    DoCmd.MoveSize 0, 0, , FormHeight

    DoCmd.SelectObject acForm, "DirectDebits"

End Sub
