How to set up a label printing report to skip a user-specified number of labels on the sheet?

It seems that the most tantalizing links from searching point to a KB article that is no longer
available (299024).

What's the algorithm for choosing which labels to skip?

A dialog pops up and asks the user how many labels to skip. ;-)

If you want to allow the user to skip the first n labels on a sheet of
labels. In the past I created a scratch table that had the columns for
the fields that get printed.

When the user selects a print and specifies the number of labels to
skip I...
1st Delete all of the records in the scratch table
2nd Insert the nuber of blank rows the user specified to skip in the
scratch table
3rd Insert all of the data for the records that need to be printed in
the scratch table
4th Open the report that prints the labels. Obviously that report must
be based on the scratch table.

Hi croy,

If you could introduce a sequential ID field (1 upwards) into the table/query that is the source for the report you might be able to ignore the first x records by setting a report filter.....

Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer)
Dim strSkipCount As String
Dim intRecCount As Integer

    On Error GoTo Error_Report_Open

    strSkipCount = InputBox("Number of labels to skip?", "Skip Count")

    If Not IsNumeric(strSkipCount) Then
        MsgBox "Skip count must be numeric."
        Cancel = True
        Exit Sub
    End If

    If strSkipCount < 0 Then
        MsgBox "Skip count must be zero or positive."
        Cancel = True
        Exit Sub
    End If

    intRecCount = DCount("*", Me.RecordSource)

    If strSkipCount >= intRecCount Then
        MsgBox "Skip count (" & strSkipCount & ") exceeds record count " & "(" & intRecCount & ").", , "Skip Count Too High"
        Cancel = True
        Exit Sub
    End If

    Me.Filter = "ID>" & strSkipCount
    Me.FilterOn = True

Exit_Report_Open:
    On Error GoTo 0
    Exit Sub

Error_Report_Open:

    MsgBox "Error " & Err.Number & " (" & Err.Description & ") in procedure Report_Open of VBA Document Report_rptSupplier"
    Resume Exit_Report_Open
End Sub
