I got a little challenge, i have 2 date fields with same size and formats, but one fields does not display the date value in it but the other field does - I have verified all data is present in the field from another layout, what could be the problem??

check font colour
is it a calculated result? check calc-type matches your exected output
is the field form an other other table? tables have to be related
is the field form an other other related table? make sure there is a
record that matches the related record
make sure the field doesn't cross any layout-margins

if it isn't a calculated field, what happens when you start typing in it?

Also check:
  - the field is wide enough.
  - check the calculation is correct and not producing an impossible
"date", e.g. it may be producing a result of "3A/5/2014" by mistake.

Plus, if it's in a Portal, check it's actually INSIDE the Portal row
and using the same Relationship as the Portal.
