Apple's FileMaker subsidiary today announced the launch of FileMaker

between generic apps and custom coding to allow teams with limited IT
resources to efficiently build custom apps for a variety of platforms.

Actually, Harry, it depends on whether your machine can run a web
browser that uses the latest HTML5. If so, then FileMaker Web Direct
can make your FM "apps" run even on YOUR platform.

I don't think anything I can use can use HTML5 (possibly Classilla, but
I haven't checked and the download doesn't work anyway). The best I've
got is Firefox 2 which has problems with occasional websites that
require newer versions of Java / JavaScript or Flash.

Of course I really meant in terms of me making new FileMaker Pro
databases and was only poking fun at the usual press release hyperbole,
although for a change it doesn't say something excessively silly like
"all platforms". :o)
