I have a script that ends as follows:
Go to Layout ["Account Summary" (Account Summary)]
Enter Preview Mode []
Go to Record/Request/Page [Last]
Scroll Window [To Selection]
When this script is executed, it ends up in Preview mode. However, a
different layout is being displayed, one named Activity and the layout
pull-down says that yet another layout, one named Old Account Summary,
is the one being displayed.
If I go to the layout pull-down and select Account Summary, that layout
is immediately displayed in Preview mode. If I want to get to the end,
which I do, I have to do it manually.
I have a different, similar, database. As well as I can tell, the
corresponding script ends with the same four steps. That script works as
expected.
Any ideas about this weird behavior? Is it me being weird again?
Charlie

In former times I had to build a loop here to go to the next page, until the last page is reached and the page number does not increase any longer. - Martin

How do you clean up layout names? There are only three layouts. There has been some renaming going on, which Helpful Harry thinks could be the cause of the problem. I'll be happy to try cleaning up, when I find out how to do it. > > If I go to the layout pull-down and select Account Summary, that layout > > is immediately displayed in Preview mode. I recently added the "Scroll Window" command to the script. In the similiar database that I mentioned in my original post, that step works correctly too. Thanks for your suggestions, Martin. Name them lay1, lay2, lay3 - nothing with spaces or similar names, very plain, very simple ones. - Martin

Possibly when this script finishes it returns to the parent script and performs some other commands resulting in what you're seeing. I have noticed a bug in the old versions of FileMaker I use whereby sometimes the name of the layout in the Status Bar's pop-up menu is different to the one you're actually viewing. It usually seems to happen when you rename the Layout - the pop-up menu doesn't seem to get updated properly with the new name. I've never bothered to look too far into it and it eventually fixes itself, possibly simply when quitting and reopening the file. Helpful Harry :o)

It is run by clicking on a button. > I have noticed a bug in the old versions of FileMaker I use whereby > sometimes the name of the layout in the Status Bar's pop-up menu is > different to the one you're actually viewing. I am using an old version of FileMaker (8.0v3) and there has been some renaming going on. However, it hasn't fixed itself so far, and this has been going on for some time. I'm pretty sure I can get rid of this problem by duplicating that similar database where the script works, deleting all of its records, then moving the data from this database to the new one. I'm just curious about why these four simple steps aren't working here and I'll remain curious even if the "fix" outlined above works. Thanks, Harry. Elizabeth Warren (paraphrased) For my opinion: first: you find what you want and afterwards go to preview mode. Second: none can help informed for the last four script steps only.
