Yep, the text-date will need to be converted into a proper date-date
before it can be used with the Date functions (Day, Month, Year) or
compared against other proper date-dates.

If the GetAsDate function doesn't work, you'll have to do the
conversion quasi-manually within the script by parsing the text-date
using the "/" character as the delimiter for each part.
