#8311 — Bicyclist killed after being hit by car

FREMONT, Calif. (KRON) — A bicyclist was killed Saturday afternoon after 
being hit by a car on Auto Mall Parkway.

Officers with the Fremont Police Department responded to the area of Auto 
Mall Parkway and Grimmer Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. regarding a major 
injury collision.

Police said a man riding an electric bike was traveling east in a 
westbound bike lane near the I-880 onramp while a vehicle was traveling 
west in the designated right-turn lane for the northbound onramp. This is 
where the two collided.

The man suffered head trauma and was pronounced dead at the hospital from 
his injuries.

The driver, a woman, remained at the scene and fully cooperated with 
officers. She did not sustain any injuries.

The cause of the crash is unclear. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone 
who witnessed or has information regarding this collision, please contact 
the Fremont Police Department Traffic Unit by calling (510) 790-6760.

This is Fremont’s sixth fatal traffic collision of 2026.

The cyclist was riding against traffic (east in a westbound bike
lane).  It doesn't matter if he was a registred Republican or
Democrat.  It's dangerous, wrong, illegal, and stupid.

turned the corner in opposite directions. Impact speed was only about
10-15 mph... etc"

Lesson learned.  I now only ride against the direction of traffic when
I'm certain I can get away with it.

miles/year, but I've kept my list of groups and check every day.

I don't think that was RBT.

I do wonder what ever came of Doug Cimerman (sp?) who was 
making his own tires from scratch. Over a year or two he 
reported steady progress, and then just disappeared.
