That's $6.40 a gallon. Are the tar sands petering out?

1.34 C$ per US$, and 3.7854 l/US gallon ... so $4.66 US a gallon.

Seattle is about $3.25 a gallon

For most of the country, the difference between US and Canadian prices is
taxes. But southern BC is a special case ... they only have one small
refinery, and limited supply ... drivers in BC are occasionally pumping gas
refined in Asia.

Sounds like Vancouverans should be filling their tanks on the U.S. side of
the border, say, in Blaine, Wa., just 30 miles south:

Gas is already barged up from Washington refineries. And I think most
Canadian who live close to the border have their favourite gas station ...
and bonus if it's on a native reservation.
