*Nobel Economist Warns: AI WILL DESTROY Democracy*

"In the West, liberal democracy, or social democracy, has over the past
century become the dominant political system: the water we swim in. But
in an age of climate change, runaway inequality, big tech oligopolies,
and rising fascism, the system that once promised so much to so many is
breaking under the strain.

On Downstream this week is Daron Acemoglu, winner of the Nobel Prize in
Economics. His 2012 book ‘Why Nations Fail’ sold over a million copies.
This week, he’s here to discuss his latest work, ‘What Happened to
Liberal Democracy?’ - a data-packed book that seeks to diagnose and
remedy democracy before it’s too late.

When and why did liberal democracy stop working for the many? What
happened during the transition from an industrial to a post-industrial
economy? How important has the loss of community been? When did
progressive politics become overrun by middle-class interests? How does
AI further threaten our capacity to self-govern and lead flourishing
lives? What could a pro-worker AI look like, and how can we achieve it?"

I would never suggest that LLMs couldn't be used to really benefit human
society.
But, as was the case with many other world changing inventions ever
created by humans on this planet the danger of both unintentional and
intentional misuse of that technology could create unimaginable havoc to
our civilisation. Sadly the warning signs are already propping up
everywhere!

Here in Melbourne we have a "Socialist Party" and indeed an election
placard has gone up next door on their fence.

I have placed a wheelie bin to obscure it, thereby doing my bit to
hinder communism just a little. And also preserving property values.

The AI genie is out of the bottle if Australia does not proceed with
AI Australia will go behind lacking the magic of AI. While more
frightening countries won't be stopping it's development and whatever
riches that come with it.
I might possibly even vote for it to replace those who stand in
Australia's Parliament,

Would be for once a honest fraud free, profitable Government where
people could earn money to buy homes and have families, that can have
families, like it was for me during the 1950's
But then be careful for what you wish for?
Maybe even peace and prosperity?

An AI-assisted Australian government guided by Christian moral
principles, loyal to the Crown and Constitution, accountable for every
dollar, firm against fraud and corruption, locally representative,
truthful in debate, and committed to seeking peace before war.

Our Australian commonwealth has survived numerous recessions,
one major depression, and two world wars.
Doubt if it will survive under a Albanese Labor Governme

What happens when the insane are "voted" (preferences) to lead our
Christian Commonwealth!

"The definition of insanity is doing something over and over again
and expecting a different result"
Then stop voting Labor/"Greens"/Teals!

There is still time to put it back by making sure it is used as a proper
toll and not like a cash cow for the corporate etch giants disguised as
some sort of gilded new fetish.

Bullshit. We do not need AI the way it is being pushed right now.
But hey, you have already show how do you intend to use it...pushing
alt-right hallucinations into the ether as a full replacement for trying
to figure things out for yourself, Petz dear.

Long live Sky Net, eh, Petz dear?

When Pauline Hanson's One Nation takes over Government
The good news is Albanese has promised to leave Australia.
Keating did that when he lost to John Howard I believel

The NDIS must be cleaned up, but integrity should apply at every
level.
Nearly 5,000 providers face action, while questions remain over the
extra $100 million for Avoca Drive—the main road to the Prime
Minister’s Copacabana property—and the $6 million grant to the
Marrickville Golf Club, about 200 metres from his Marrickville home,
despite his claim that he is not a member. With the federal business
case for the road funding also questioned, bottom feeders are being
pursued—but what about the top feeders?
--
Petzl
The repeat of July 1985, Treasurer Paul Keating temporarily abolished
negative gearing for future residential property investments.
Investors could no longer offset property losses against their salary
income.
What followed there was a property price slump, rents escalating, home
loan bank interest rates hitting 18%, a building slump.

To un-spook the market, it was fixed by John Howard
1999: The later Howard government introduced the 50% CGT discount for
assets held for more than 12 months, replacing the original inflation
indexation method used during the Hawke-Keating era.

Not gunna happen given that she has only ever had JUST ONE
MP elected to the only house that matters in that regard and
he will be jumping ship before the next federal election because
Hanson's stupid immigration policy will decimate all the industrys
in his electorate given the fact that they rely on temporary visa
holders providing the vast bulk of the agricultural and hospital
and aged home workers

Only Rudd has ever done that

That was a promise in the 2022 election campaign

Albo bought that property YEARS later than that

China is less communist now than before, and has become a gangland
rather like the crims of the French Revolution. Still, it has worked
to put the "democratic" countries on the back foot. And this is no
bullshit.

Yes, but so what? Given the economic rise they're doing something
right. Here in the West we have a credit and mortgage state in

for the stability.

It's related to a busted economy and getting worse under Albanese
Labor.

Airservices offers triple pay to stop flight delays
Living in and suburbs around Sydney Airport particularly if paying off
home, raising children as well,Annual incomes need around $400,000
nowadays , If one goes further out could maybe get by with a $200,000.
Not everyone can tap into tax payers money to fund a $100,000,000 high
speed motorway to your Copacabana Mansion.

If Australians can't afford children because incomes have fallen to
low why would the government think the mass immigrants will be able to
afford children?

Still won't stop them aging either and increase a problem of not
enough income earners that we are having now!
Not seeing these mass-immigrants buying houses now but needing
accommodation.
Presently..
With private sector jobs shrinking wages are through cost of living
inflation of real dollar value dropping, many taking multiple jobs to
raise income (babies are now off agenda)

To live in Sydney now one needs a realistic annual income od
AU$200,000 to AU$400,000 to make ends meet and buy a home
The "Bank of Mum and Dad" is rapidly running out of liquidity. Rather
than young buyers successfully purchasing homes independently because
prices are falling, they are increasingly locked out entirely by high
interest rates, leading many to stay in the family home far longe

In short, importing people who face the same high housing and living
costs does not magically solve the fertility or aging problems, and it
demonstrably adds to accommodation demand while supply remains
constrained.
The structural issues—housing supply responsiveness, planning,
construction productivity, childcare costs, and real wage
growth—matter at least as much as the headline migration number.

Mad Magazine years ago 50's? had a cartoon showing a modern apartment,
where one sits on a toilet armslenght from a fridge TV in front
Seems now true humans are now cage hens

That exact satirical prediction from MAD Magazine has literally become
a reality in the Sydney rental market. The specific concept of an
apartment where the toilet, fridge, and main living space are all
compressed within arm's reach is no longer just a cartoon
exaggeration; it is a regular feature of modern inner-city property
listings. The "cage hen" reality of modern micro-living is heavily
documented by several notorious real-world

So not bring able to buy a home or have children
They give more money to spend on cars/etc.

Economists call this phenomenon "doom spending" or "lifestyle
resignation," and it is driving a noticeable shift in consumer habits
across Australia
The Surry Hills 'Room with a Poo'
<https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/may/06/toilet-kitchen-sydney-studio-apartment-rent-surry-hills-australia>
       https://tinyurl.com/azt28vy3
Renters were expected to pay over $500 a week to essentially sleep,
cook, and use the bathroom in the exact same footprint.

The 'Micro-Studio' Explosion: In dense hubs like Potts Point and
Newtown, developers regularly market 18-to-24-square-metre spaces as
"premium minimalist living."
In reality, these layouts force the resident to stand at the stove
while practically touching their bed,
treating humans exactly like "cage hens"
