%age contribution of global CO2 output?

Oty.

Ok, a couple of things...

Australia is actually responsible for around 4.5% of global CO2
emissions, 80% of which is down to our fossil fuel export. (a)
Theoretically, but *extremely* unlikely, we could ban the export of this
stuff. As I say, I doubt very much that this could happen, I'm pointing
it out to you Murdoch mouthpieces who chant, "There's nothing we can do
that would have any effect" as a counterpoint.

On your link, which figure(s) on the 'Straya line are, "one poofteenth
of SFA"?

Wrong, its actually 1%
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions#Fossil_CO2_emissions_by_country/territory

80% of which is down to our fossil fuel export. (a)

That's a bogus number given that we aren't going to ban the export of coal

Well, No. If #16 is "one poofteenth of SFA" then your scale is bizarre.
#16 on that list means that Oz is in the *top* decile. So you'll be
revising your opinion of what Australia's contribution is then?

alvey
Incidentally, one of the leading loudmouths in perpetrating this lie
about Ozs' contribution being "one poofteenth of SFA" is, no, not the
Bumhole (Vic) Boofhead. It's a far more influential right-wing ratbag
who's current facing a mass of paedo charges. Alan Jones. His infamous
'grain of rice' piece on TV was disgraceful.

I'm looking at the countries *below* Australia. It's a worry when we get
pipped at the post by, say, France, UK, Italy. We're even knocking on
the doors of Canada and South Korea. And South Korea doesn't even
*export* fossil fuels.

Good to see that loudmouth get his comeuppance.

Yep. It's extraordinary that this blurt about Oz CO2 output being 'a
grain of rice in a bowlfull', or "a poofteenth of SFA" has ever been
made. Extraordinary, but depressing.

I suspect that Dutton is being set-up to fail with the nuke idiocy. When
it all goes pffft Angus Taylor will ascend.

he already knows they're expensive to build, but provide cheap stable

Dutton is proposing to build technology that no one in the world has,
not a single *working* example of an SMR anywhere. Dutton is promising a
dream, nothing more, nothing less.

The people are already complaining about their *cheap* electricity now.
When it doubles in cost because Dutton built a nuclear reactor, you
really think people are going to be concerned with a stable electricty
supply?

Well, err, no, that wouldn't. Gas peaking would be the best *short term*
or *transition* option to replace coal, much more flexible too. It's
what they seem to be using in the NW of WA.

I hope you're not expecting to see them any time soon/your lifetime?

Nuclear power is like fast rail, roll it out at election time. Dutton
knows he will be long gone and not responsible *if* and when a single
sod is turned.

**Precisely. Dutton knows damned well that, IF he commits to building
nukes, then he may not be alive when the first one comes on line. He
certainly won't be in politics. He will have some cushy job given to him
by Gina. Assuming, of course, that the fat cunt will be alive in 10
years. Which I doubt.
