Some of the highest per capita in the world in fact.

A real fact, not some Murdoch/Sky cherry picked opinions from clueless
nobodies and agenda pushing stooges.

I suspect that Dutton is being set-up to fail with the nuke idiocy. When
it all goes pffft Angus Taylor will ascend.

Dutton is proposing to build technology that no one in the world has,
not a single *working* example of an SMR anywhere. Dutton is promising a
dream, nothing more, nothing less.

The people are already complaining about their *cheap* electricity now.
When it doubles in cost because Dutton built a nuclear reactor, you
really think people are going to be concerned with a stable electricty
supply?

Well, err, no, that wouldn't. Gas peaking would be the best *short term*
or *transition* option to replace coal, much more flexible too. It's
what they seem to be using in the NW of WA.

Gas is perfect. We have plenty of it and it's cheap... or at least would
be if we were paying what China is buying it for.

In fact it's criminal how ordinary Australians are being shafted.

No they don't. Nuclear is expensive to build, maintain and electricity
production is prohibitively expensive which is other countries are
dumping it an option.

Duddon's idea is as stupid as those halfwits that think it's a viable
'plan'.

there has to be a means to supply electricity other than by wind and solar.

I hope you're not expecting to see them any time soon/your lifetime?

Nuclear power is like fast rail, roll it out at election time. Dutton
knows he will be long gone and not responsible *if* and when a single
sod is turned.

**Precisely. Dutton knows damned well that, IF he commits to building
nukes, then he may not be alive when the first one comes on line. He
certainly won't be in politics. He will have some cushy job given to him
by Gina. Assuming, of course, that the fat cunt will be alive in 10
years. Which I doubt.

No, we should be moving to gas peaking. As a short term strategy it is
cheap and will reduce CO2 emissions by ~50% as well as reducing all the
toxic emissions.

**Then YOU tell us who is going to pay to build coal fired power
stations. No private company is interested in building them, because are
are simply not as profitable as the alternatives. Same as nukes. They
cost even more than coal fired power stations.

And it's the private energy companies who are closing down the coal
fired power stations.
