Queen Margrethe II has announced that she will be abdicating
effective January 14th (the 52nd anniversary of her accession
at the death of her father King Frederik IX).

The current Crown Prince of Denmark thus will become King
Frederik X and begin patrilineal Laborde de Monpezat
rather than Oldenburg descent on the throne,just as
King Charles III of the United Kingdom etc. began
patrilineal Oldenburg rather than Wettin descent on
his thrones,regardless of any nominal retention of
former dynastic names.
