Anyone out there point me to the 1.2 of Corel Linux (sources -- I have the
binary)... I know there are pack rats like me....somewhere.

Been real hard to find the sources anywhere. I'm thinking about a
modern rebuild of the stuff to play with.

Thanks...

I would guess the best luck you would have is to try to find debian
packages from early 2000, but I doubt you will have good luck with that.

Everywhere I find old linuxes such as sourceforge's ArchivOS and
soft.lafibre.info (which has OS/2 Warp3 from '94 and lots more) I only
find the .iso/s, no source anywhere. Corel released that v. in 2000.

My interpretation of an old corel page from the wayback machine suggests
that corel didn't release the source code for corel linux.

Will Corel release the source code for its major applications?
While Corel recognizes the value of open source development in many
areas, and is actively participating in a number of open source efforts
such as Wine and development of KDE, the company has no plans to release
the source code for its major applications. Corel’s major applications
contain many features that rely on code licensed from other vendors,
with whom the company has a variety of contractual obligations—one of
which is to keep their source code private. Corel could not release its
application source code without a tremendous amount of development work
to isolate the licensed code, and this work would have a significant
impact on release schedules.

This sounds like it's not referring to Corel Linux itself, but
applications containing third party code bundled with Corel Linux.
Actually, since the system itself (including all GUI packages, shells,
kernel, start-up files, etc.) are released under the GPL, Corel is
required to make source code for it available. But, if Corel Linux is
just Debian with KDE, as several people have said, then I think all
Corel really has to do is point to the KDE project and Debian's
sources.

I don't know exactly what you are shooting for, but if I wanted a
'retro' type of KDE on top with Deb underneath which is what the old
Corel Linux was, my choice would be q4OS which uses a current
TDE/Trinity DE which was forked from KDE 3.5 and well maintained and a
current Deb.
