Hi Rene Lamontagne, a well-known troll, Let's see if you fail the simple 3-word test of adding value, Rene. Shall we? Name just once where you've added on-topic factual value to this thread. o Name just one. Let's see if you (as always) _FAIL_ the simple 3-word test for truth? Shall we? Find just once when you've been factually _helpful_ in any of my threads. o Name just one HINT: All you _can_ do, Rene Lamontagne, is troll. Please, *don't* make fun of him. He's a troll, and trolls should be ignored, not responded to. He should be killfiled. He's killfiled here because I don't want to read his garbage. But when someone responds to a troll, I have to read his messages quoted in the responses (unless I also killfile the responder, which I usually don't want to, but sometimes do if someone very frequently responds to trolls). Trolls thrive on responses. If they don't get any, they'll eventually stop trolling and go away. As has often been said, "don't feed the trolls."

I setup a filter for mixmin.net in the headers, It removes the troll and the ones that respond to him.

You've been asked before, but didn't respond, so here's another attempt: Why don't you kill the thread once you see that someone is responding to him? And, AFAIK, Agent could even do this fully automatically (killfile "JohnDoe" and choose as Action "Ignore Thread"). See my article <news:pq322r.b3k.1@ID-201911.user.individual.net> (and earlier) for details.

Good question, which I also have asked, repeatedly and recently (Feb 19) in this very thread. Apparent Ken (Blake) would rather repeatedly complain about this (non-)'problem' than solve it. As I have posted, in his newsreader - Agent -, he can even killfile "JohnDoe" and choose as Action "Ignore Thread" to killfile JohnDoe and any and all responses to JohnDoe's threads once and for all, i.e. a one time action, instead of having to kill every new thread which JohnDoe creates. Because Ken had 'threatened' to killfile people who respond to trolls, I even morphed to post my advice/solution to him, but even that was not acknowledged/rejected, nor - apparently - used. Well, I/we tried. Can do no more.

Well, it can ignore the entire thread > or just the subthread (which I prefer when I use that action). Can Thunderbird do such an action *once and for all* (like Agent can)? I.e. one can tell Agent to killfile "JohnDoe" and choose as Action "Ignore Thread". After that, you do not see any *new*/future threads that "JohnDoe" starts, nor any responses in those new threads. (And of course you don't see any current/old threads either.) Can Thunderbird do *that*, i.e. set-and-forget? > > > > > Because Ken had 'threatened' to killfile people who respond to trolls, > > I even morphed to post my advice/solution to him, but even that was not > > acknowledged/rejected, nor - apparently - used. > > > > Well, I/we tried. It acts on new posts, but you can manually run the filter on the folder, which will apply to filter on old posts. The filter will be there till you delete it. By default, a filter only acts on a single folder, but there is a trick to create a filter on the account instead, and then it applies to all folders. Mind, the filter would act not only on the threads he starts, but also on those he replies to - which is why I'd kill subthreads, not threads. >> >>> >>> Because Ken had 'threatened' to killfile people who respond to trolls, >>> I even morphed to post my advice/solution to him, but even that was not >>> acknowledged/rejected, nor - apparently - used. >>> >>> Well, I/we tried.
