The drive is USB 3 but the port is 1.1, and I suspect that I where *some* of the issues come from. I have re-done some of the same things in a VM on another machine and the settings of default programs worked fine, as did the printing (though that goes through the VM drivers). ImageMagick still messed up the image though. I went with Mint Cinnamon which may have been a mistake. At the very least I could have gone with a lower end DE. My wife, though, does not want to change now... and already has things set up based on Cinnamon. >> The machine is an older Mac. OK. But the backlighting is not what it once >> was. Does not need to be hardware specific -- just gamma adjustments. I will look into that more, later. >> Then she went to print something from Chrome (a recipe). Failed. Why? Said >> the filter failed. Sadly I suspect that is going to be how it is. At some point we will get me a new Mac and she will get my hand-me-down. Not pushing Macs in here, but she prefers that... and even before the hard drive died her 10 year old machine was getting a bit old. :) > +1 on the sig Thanks. > Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. They cannot use reason to show the message to be wrong so they try to feel somehow superior by attacking the messenger. They cling to their attacks and ignore the message time and time again.
