No.
You have encountered a person who is calling you on your claims.
You made the claim you were "compiling nvidia divers".
Now back it up.

No. You made the statement you have been compiling Nvida drivers.
Now prove it.
Where is the source code you have been compiling?

Nice try.

You claimed you have been compiling Nvidia drivers since way back when.
Can't compile without source code.
Where is it?

Insults is all you have.
I doubt you even run Linux. You are a WinTroll who has a mission to make
real Linux users look bad.
Sorry but you're busted.

Only a part of the drivers is a binary blob that is linked into the rest
of the drivers. The rest is compiled -- as anyone who has ever used the
vendor's self-extracting archive well knows.

So where does that leave us?

The irony here is that you, flatface, could never hope to approach the
Linux capabilities of those who actually use the OS.

Your loss -- your humiliation gains a wider audience.

If it isn't already obvious, Linux people do quite well without clueless
clowns like you polluting the newsgroup(s). Kindly dry up and blow away,
troll.

Who ? The guy that said he used Ubuntu and asked if Debian had
synaptic ?
I saw nothing in his posts that said he used Linux since the
90's. He did mention that he used Slackware previously, but gave no
dates.

One doesn't "see" such a thing in a fucking Usenet post, dipshit.

Wrong guy, dumbfuck. I have NEVER "used", "installed", "checked out"
or otherwise, slackware. Nor did I ever make any such contention in ANY
Usenet post I EVER made.

Of course, Debian has the Synaptic GUI. Apt-get has a number of front ends
to choose from. My preference is aptitude.

mike rowsoft is an idiot, and you're not so swift yourself. Perhaps
Dan C is right about you. :-(

Synaptic does not have the "drivers" section I was interested in, and
I already knew about synaptic. You are not so swift for your failed
interpretations, and for failing to notice that the guy I asked about it
already answered me, putz.

And I deserved your petty horseshit? If you are going to respond,
don't make it a troll. I wasn't the one touting pieces of your Usenet
history. Don't take out your frustrations on me.

Are you talking about synaptic? It's pretty decent as compared to the
Ubuntu "software updater" because it's non-invasive, it lets you
manually decide what to update when, as opposed to a daily nag screen
and a presumption of terminal stupidity like the Ubuntu thing. It's
just a front-end for apt. I'm just now moving from it to apt command-
line, a little at a time. For finding something to install it's pretty
good in that it offers a search facility then lets you get details on
that package. Maybe apt does that too in cli form, I'm not sure yet.

Cool. Maybe the siduction guys will run a 32bit-LXDE build.

Is there a way to get xcreensaver to lock immediately?

Maybe set it to lock (prompt for password)and zero minutes perhaps.

Otherwise one minute is the minimum, IIRC.

Or one could use "Preview" for an immediate lock. There is a mouse
cursor in that one though.

xscreensaver-command -lock

Easy to bind to a hot-key if one wishes.

That's my method, anyway. Your "GUI" may have something you prefer.

Interesting, never heard of xscreensaver-command before, "which
xscreensaver-command" comes up with zip, synaptic comes up with nada for
search results against "xscreensaver-command".

I'm running LXDE on Debian jessie. What package is "xscreensaver-
command" part of, that it doesn't show up in synaptic search results?

The xscreensaver package.
Installs a bunch of xscreensaver* programs.

man xscreensave shows 'em in the SEE ALSO section.
