Are you going to ask me the same stupid question each time you cross
post? Cause I'll keep asking you to leave if you continue to cross post.

It breaks like so. You're either genuine and need of help. In which case
I'd assume you'd be willing to stop pissing off those that might be
willing to help you. We don't appreciate cross posters and especially
not to consumer group crap. I've made that very clear haven't I?

If I'm correct and you're just here to troll and act stupid you'll
quickly find yourself in most everyone's kill file. You'll basically end
up including this group into your conversations on the consumer group,
which again I've made it quite clear would not be appreciated.

I don't think anyone here is interested in discussing Android with
clueless morons that have no concept of anything beyond a consumer front
end. We've already felt compelled to correct some of way off base
garbage you guys write.

Marek.

Do you realize I haven't *changed* any of the headers when responding to
you, Caver1, and the others since you asked me to not post to Android?

Not once have I changed the followup list since you asked!
Not once!

I am a courteous Usenet user who has been on Usenet since before you were
most likely (since I'm far older than you are).

Yet, you *continue* to wrongly *assume* that I "crosspost", even though
the facts are in your face; and, much worse, you also incorrectly assume
that anyone who has an Android:Linux interface problem is a troll.

Bear in mind that I *know* you are intelligent. So, there's something
else bugging you today, I fear. I'm sorry for you. I really am.

> It breaks like so. You're either genuine and need of help.

I *was* in need of help, but, as you know by now, *both* problems have
been solved, so, there's no more need of discussion other than to respond
to your issues that *you* bring up (not me).

I'm simply being courteous to you by responding to your issues.

> I don't think anyone here is interested in discussing Android with
> clueless morons that have no concept of anything beyond a consumer front

Marek. Read what you just wrote. Then think about it. Then look at the
facts in front of you (and in front of everyone else).

Did I once (just once?) trash *any* operating system in this thread?
Did I once (just once?) trash any operating system in *any* thread?

The answer, which is a provable fact, is decidedly *NO*.

You simply *assumed* that everyone who posts to an Android group is
(somehow) inexplicably trashing the Linux OS simply because they are
trying to interface Android to Linux?

Marek: My wife has a Mac and an iPhone. I have Android devices. My router
is Linux. My kids use Windows. My laptop is Linux. They're all good. I've
had PalmOS. I've had Blackberry. I've programmed on the IBM 370. I've
used a DEC PDP11 with the address switches at the bottom.

They're all good.

What's inexplicable is that you think I have "trashed" some operating
system, or that I plan on trashing some operating system, when the fact
are as clear as black and white that I never did and never will as I
think they're all good.

I just wanted to get Bluetooth to select a folder, which I have
accomplished now, and when people suggested WiFi, I just wanted to get
the WiFi to transfer the files, which I have accomplished now.

Both have horrible GUIs, and that was the *only* real problem; but both
have been solved, and I wrote up a step-by-step how-to for both, so
others don't have to start at the beginning.

Thank you very much for your kind help.

I just said I didn't *change* the headers.
I simply hit the "reply" button in my newsreader.

It replies to *whatever* you have it set to reply to or if you don't have
it set, to whomever you sent it to. I don't change a thing.

So, for you to imply otherwise is a blatant disregard for easily provable
black and white fact.

Show me where, in *any* post after Marek made his suggestion, where I
didn't just hit the reply button, which is the courteous thing to do.

You know all this, and I know you're not as stupid as you are appearing
to be, so, you must have an agenda (or, you're simply trolling).

OK, my mistake. You /didn't/ send those posts to multiple groups.

Oh, wait a minute, you did. Is that crossposting? Yes, it is!
Changed headers? No, but posted to multiple groups anyway? Then you
crossposted. What is so hard to see/comprehend about that?

If it wasn't intentional then you need to pay closer attention to what
you are doing. If not, crossposting. Simple, isn't it?

That's probably the problem. I am changing the headers. Each message
that is cross posted I remove the android site. You leave it there and
you started the thread. So if someone replies to you, and you to them,
it stays. If you reply to me, it should be gone as I remove it.

Maybe. I started in the early 80s, I think. But I do sometimes confuse
Fidonet with Usenet. But I did get started pretty darn early on. But I
will say that I am not someone who was active this whole time.

That's half true. If you cross post it here, and you come up with some
obscure issue, like guys, I want to use Bluetooth, my USB port doesn't
work and I'm too stupid to use FTP, yet I use Linux, yeah, that sounds a
lot like a lot of troll posts that come and go. So yeah.

Thank you, I think. But no, nothing else is bugging me. Well, I'm not a

Actually, I never said you trashed anything. I predicted that at some
future point the conversation would be, "All these Linux gurus couldn't

It's another hop (and you might not like that) ... but what about just
getting a file server somewhere -- either something "commercial" like
dropbox, or something simple like a SSH server sitting at home?

Did that here (rather than storing a gazillion photos on my laptop's
HDD), and just have my laptop connecting to it via NFS. Other devices
(such as phones) use SFTP to talk to the fileserver when necessary (e.g.
pushing photos from "today" while out on vacation).

Thanks for noting that it's another hop, as that means you understand
that your suggestion isn't for everyone.

It turns out that there are different types of people, and that's OK.

One type has no problem storing sensitive information on a file server
somewhere, while others do have a visceral dislike of that.

There's nothing wrong with either approach, but, for me, file servers are
out of the question (otherwise I'd just use Google or Dropbox).

If I really wanted a file server, I'd set up my own; but I agree that's
not for everyone either (as it's work to set up in the first place).

With having ssh/sftp, you're halfway there. ;) NFS is a nice extra
(mounted drives right into your filesystem), but not absolutely
necessary.

Really though, most of my stuff is hosted locally by my own
frankenboxen.

You've never *seen* the connector then.

Take a look at time point 1107 in this video for example.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Vic0SJ6IzYo#t=1107

Likewise, see this video at time point 2011.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=CvIgST4weOE#t=2011

There are LOTS and LOTS of "pins" (more than I want to count).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgGkCjNSlSM

Suffice to say you must be an *expert* at desoldering
and soldering to replace this connector without bricking
the phone.
