If /you/ were to review those posts I think you might change your
mind.  

Of course I do engage with the trolls a bit more than I probably should
but even then my overall spirit is more tongue-in-cheek poking  than
overtly negative.  I'm a lot more a joker than I am upset or angry.
It's really pretty hard to get me angry and usually has to do with
someone disparaging either That Danged Wife or Those Danged Daughters.

I am a very protective man.

On the up side I also try to help out when/where I can but I'm no
guru although I have accumulated some slight Linux knowledge over the
years. Nor do I push my anti-Ubuntu agenda very much at all. If a
subject comes up, yes, I'll address it and will put out facts about my
experiences with both Ubuntu and Mr. Shuttleworth. Even then, not all
are negative.  I had a very nice run with Ubuntu before it became clear
that it was off the rails of its original 'feeling of
Ubuntu' (togetherness, inclusion, ready for all no matter the economic
level) direction.

And against their /OWN STATED POLICIES/ from the early days.  Those
changes are what I don't care for.  It just seems duplicitous and
under-handed to me.  Were they to go back to original thinking I would
likely go back to Ubuntu.

Wayback machine their manifesto from early on and compare it with
today's.  Do the same with the Code Of Conduct.

directly due to my own pushing on the Ubu-users list and the Sounder

Nah, I'm pretty well grounded in reality and have a wonderfully happy
life doing my own retired thing(s).  Really, I'm cool.

??? Red Hat gives back plenty and always have, particularly to the
kernel.  Even as a big-time server OS supplier and support seller they
still have a free of cost OS for the public.  Yes, it's a testbed.  So
is Ubuntu.  

I've no experience either with that fruit company nor its BSD
beginnings.

Ubu, OTOH, grudgingly gives back as little as possible.  That has long
been known and been a major point of contention within the open source
community.

Don't fool yourself; of course it is.  It is fully under the control or
either Mark or Mark's wholly-owned company.  How, then, can it be other
than what he is?  He makes the rules; he gives the orders.

I agree with your hopes, I agree with your assessment of Ubu and Mint.
I just can't support either of them because of my philosophical
differences with their owners.  Therefore, Debian for me.

C'mon, how can I, a lowly lowly user, have much impact?  So far I know

I do know of perhaps a  couple of hundred who abandoned it when I did
and for much the same reasons.
