Or, i.e. he will be updating to QT 5/KDE Plasma 5 (etc) for 15.0
(-current still has QT 4.8.7/KDE 4.14.3).

That IS a major upgrade just in itself.

Perhaps 14.2 as the last KDE 4.x distro fairly rapidly followed by 15.0
with the QT5/KDE Plasma 5? That would not be a bad idea provided we
were warned. If that were to happen changelog would probally be the
place to look.

The newest set of updates in -current confirm my guess:

So it _is_ an official BETA now for the new Slackware 14.2 release.

yes, and sadly, as Eric tweeted many hours ago, that shithole POS
resource hog that takes over everything "pulse audio" is now included :(
I wont be in any hurry to update desktops, servers yes, desktops NO.

From the changelog:

Wed Jan 13 00:01:23 UTC 2016
Hey folks, happy new year!
After upgrading to BlueZ 5 recently, everything seemed to be working
great, but then it was pointed out that Bluetooth audio was no longer
working. The reason was that the newer BlueZ branch had dropped ALSA
support and now required PulseAudio. So with some trepidation, we began
investigating adding PulseAudio to Slackware. Going back to BlueZ 4
wasn't an option with various dependent projects either having dropped
support for it, or considering doing so. After several iterations here
refining the foundation packages and recompiling and tweaking other
packages to use PulseAudio, it's working well and you'll likely not
notice much of a change. But if you're using Bluetooth audio, or needing
to direct audio through HDMI, you'll probably find it a lot easier to
accomplish that.
Best of all, we're finally a modern, relevant Linux distro! ;-)

regards Henrik
