Fish don't like human hormone treatments, so any packaging that had hormones in it, the packaging should be taken back to the pharmacist. When I have a box full of empty vials, I take those back to the store. With caps off. And the staff deal with those. If recycled goods go into a recycling center that washes with water, the drug residue isn't removed by waste water treatment systems, and it goes downstream. And there have been cases of detectable results on fish. The next time you're in a pharmacy, ask the pharmacist about their opinion on waste treatment. On your News server account, try filtering for Newsgroups with 'Linux' in their names and see if there is one listed for the version of Linux you use. Else there is always alt.linux (not very active) or alt.os.linux (some activity). The Kaspersky Rescue CD, a tool used for AV work on Windows, it uses Gentoo for its OS on the CD, and the Gentoo has all the manual pages stripped off to save space. Not all distros have manual pages, and if space or bandwidth is an issue, they can be removed. Just as some OSes you get, have had the "Games" folder removed. Some distros are known for the information they provide. The Arch Linux people have some general documentation which is good when you have a problem and need an overview. Gentoo has the Gentoo Handbook, which shows some things an aspiring Linux user should know. Like today, I chrooted into a Ubuntu and fixed it sorta. Some of the activities are reserved for "severely broken stuff", which everyone with a computer has seen at one time or another. Chrooting is like some of the offline repair commands in Windows. When you build Gentoo from scratch, there is one chroot session in there, undoubtedly included so a user would know how to do it later. You can mount some foreign OS tree, and the environment pretends you are actually booted and running from that tree. You can update packages in the foreign tree, although the tree is not running at the time as a "real OS". Paul

Many’s the search that has led me to the Arch Linux Wiki

I have successfully done this with Debian systems. It gets errors
trying to restart nonexistent service processes, but otherwise it
seems to work.
Tip: to minimize errors with inability to get info about the running
hardware and kernel, try to make the chroot look more like a “real”
system before entry with
for d in dev proc sys; do mount --bind /$d /«path-to-chroot»/$d; done
then enter with e.g.
chroot /«path-to-chroot» /bin/bash
then undo the bind mounts after exiting with
umount /«path-to-chroot»/{dev,proc,sys}

I had a Burgundy version of Office 95! (I think it was 95.) It was basically 95 (?) with patches, so in effect Office 98 or whatever year we'd got to; I bought it as a CD at a computer fair. Seemed to be a genuine Microsoft product, but I'm pretty sure not supposed to be sold separately - intended for sale with a PC, or something like that.
