Thunderbird spam junk settings?

There are some emails in my spam folder.
How do I get Thunderbird to mind his own busyness and let me read
emails which are send to me.

Do you know about this info?

It involves whitelisting your contacts, continuing to train Tb, and more.

There is also a par in there about using msg/s which were NOT marked as
Junk as examples of good mail when there isn't a 'not junk' function
available.

CASE 1: If the emails are in your spam folder when you receive them.
=====================================================================

First check whether this email account is a POP account or an IMAP account.
Go to:
[Linux] Edit >> Account Settings >> (select email account) >> Server Settings.
[Windows] Tools >> Account Settings >> (select email account) >> Server Settings.
At the top of the Server Settings panel, check whether it says
    Server Type: POP Mail Server
or
    Server Type: IMAP Mail Server

If this is an IMAP account, then it is probably your email service provider
putting the emails into your spam folder. It is probably not Thunderbird.
Find how to adjust your settings at your email provider (whoever that is).

Both POP and IMAP accounts have has a "Junk Settings" panel at:
[Linux] Edit >> Account Settings >> (select email account) >> Junk Settings.
[Windows] Tools >> Account Settings >> (select email account) >> Junk Settings.
You can adjust these settings, for example to turn off adaptive junk mail
controls or just turn off moving new junk messages to your spam folder.
 * If this is a POP account, then this should fix it.
 * If this is an IMAP account, this will not control what your email service
    provider does.

CASE 2: If the emails are put in your spam folder when you mark them as junk.
==============================================================================

Go to:
[Linux] Edit >> Preferences >> Privacy & Security
[Windows] Tools >> Options >> Privacy & Security
Scroll down to the "Junk" section.
Turn off "When I mark messages as junk...".

I don't have Linux] Edit >> Preferences >> Privacy & Security
I do have >edit>>Settings>>Privacy & Security

Nothing is selected as junk, so it must be the email provider.(gmail)
Thanks I will look at that.

Gmail is a pretty good spam discriminator; when it makes an error, it is
usually to let an occasional spam into the Inbox, not mark a goodmail as
spam. In my own experience.

I beg to differ. It refuses to allow any emails from the forum I'm the
administrator of to be delivered to anyone with an @gmail.com address,
bouncing each and every one of them as "unsolicited bulk mail and/or spam".

It's not the first time this happens either, but it has already been
over two months now, and I've already filed a gazillion complaints
about it, but they're not lifting a finger.

And no, our domain is not on any blacklists, because I've verified
that. Our DNS records also contain the required-by-Google fields and
identification strings.

That sounds like some 'strange' outlier working by an unknown mechanism;
but I'm not at all surprised about google not fixing something. They
just don't do that.

I can imagine google having its own blacklist based on some nebulous
criterion.

Here's an article that describes how a gmail account can whitelist a
sender. The short version is -1- put it in contacts (but that isn't
good enough) and -2- use the steps in the article in the Filter section
to label it 'Never put in spam'.

I tinkered w/ it; it looks like one can do it for a domain.

I usually just turn off 'Adaptive junk mail controls'[1] for each account
since the email service providers mostly already do this. If you do turn
it off be sure to include the Junk or Spam folder the email provider uses
in your account's sub-folder subscription.

[1] Turning off 'Adaptive junk mail controls' (per account):
    - click on Edit >> Account Settings >> <your_acct> >> Junk Settings
    - uncleck "[x] Enable Adaptive junk mail controls for this account"
