Heavy annoyed yet. I checked before this happened that my *.dbx folders contain all what I told it to contain (up to 90 days). So it is windoze which thinks that it must overrule my settings and behave 'smart' in the very bad common M$ sense. I'll check how it show up after a new installation of XP. and Eternal September seems to be a good alternative, even it needs to tell more personal data than I ever wanted to tell. OTOH, why can a usenet-contact disable what's already stored on "my fully paid own" harddisks ? Yeah my OS isn't prepared for internet, just for LAN with an very own specified (safe) protocol. Therfore I got to use M$-shit for news and email. One day, after collecting all what's required for it, I may also cover this story within my OS. __ wolfgang still cannot see my own sent posts to ALA and CLAX yet.

So the culprit is megascrap? Try SeaMonkey https://www.seamonkey.at/ it provides IRC, e-mail and newsgroups clients, so you have one stand-alone application to manage everything related to internet. I stopped keeping more than a year in my newsreader, since it kept messing up. I just changed to another newsreader, so maybe I won't have that issue anymore. But, who needs to read posts older than a year? If you do, Google Groups archive is much better for searching than a newsreader. Rod Pemberton

I never found aioe.org to be a good place to read. So, you can read elsewhere and post through them, as I do. Aioe is good for free posting which is hard to find. It's good for keeping your internet address private. textnews.cambrium.nl *was* the best place to read, IMO. It seems to be offline now ... So, I'm trying server freenews.netfront.net. It has had some issues in the past of going offline. You can also try news.dizum.net. Of course, you're probably familiar with the always popular external-september.org. When I think a post is missing, I first check Google Groups. Rod Pemberton
