Being the cynic that I am, I'd say he's testing a new spam generator.
But, keeping Hanlon's Razor in mind, it might just be a homebrewed
news client that has some bugs to work out.  Time will tell.

Maybe it was his pet cat, or maybe a bat flying by, that spied a
keyboard all alone, and try to make a new friend, and posted the dots
instead ?
