You'd want to make damned sure it's ethanol and that the denaturing agents aren't too nasty. Regardless, of course, it's not worth it. It's going to at the very least taste horrible even if it doesn't hurt you any worse than a few shots of hard liquor actually intended for drinking. As for absorption through the skin, I would've thought the amounts would be fairly insignificant - but it's far outside my area of expertise, so I could easily be wrong. apparently would.

I got a chemistry set for one of my birthdays. It had in it an alcohol lamp and there were some exercises with glassworking in the instruction book. The instruction book said to use methyl alcohol in the lamp. My parents would not allow me to have methyl alcohol because "if you drink it you'll go blind". Apparently they did not read the label on the rather diluted isopropyl that they would allow me to have which did not run the lamp hot enough to be useful but if drunk would make me go equally blind. Or for that matter the label on the chemistry set--I'm pretty sure that they would not have been happy with the outcome if I had drunk the nitric, sulfuric, or hydrochloric acids.

I don't know what it's like now. I'm tempted sometimes to enroll in freshman chemistry at the local community college just to see what they're doing these days.
