Well the Republic of Ireland has both Irish (Gaelige) and English as official languages. The majority of people speak English as a first langauge (I would think for many as their only language). A small minority speak Irish on a regular basis (every week); but there are areas where Irish is the predominant language. Also Malta has English as an official langauge and government business is carried out in both English and Maltese. Secondary and tertiary education is entirely English. -- Andy Leighton => andyl@azaal.plus.com "We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty!" - Douglas Adams

But "mice" seems to have won that round. I've always been happy with "mice" for rodents and "mouses" for electronics. I thought the telltale usage was "Vaxen" or perhaps "Emacsen". The tell for "not a nerd" is referring to the oatmeal-colored desktop box as the "CPU". -- Mike Spencer Nova Scotia, Canada

U.N. simultaneous interpreter, speaking English:
The Elbonian ambassador has just told a joke which is utterly
untranslateable. I'm sure he would be gratified if you would all
laugh just now.

No doubt in an English speaking country. I guess: USA. What languages do you speak? I guess you speak only English. What makes you conclude that everybody thinks in English? Have you ever googled how many people speak English as first language? How many speak English as second or third language? Most of the people all over the world doesn't speak English at all. And from the rest: many doesn't speak enough English to think in English. Everybody thinks in his/her own language !! Rink
