Which again brings up that question that always fascinated
me as a child that I never could get a sensible answer to
from anyone. Why do some like that one end up with such
long tails which don’t appear to have any useful function in
being that long and why half as long wouldn’t be just as good.

Which variety of oranges ?  We mostly export Navels.

They may have been different varieties of Navels but my friend
and I were discussing Navels.  His American oranges were cheaper
than the Australian oranges in his store and the Australian
oranges were cheaper then the American oranges in my store.

You do realise that not all oranges are in season at the
same time of the year in a particular location don’t you ?

We did consider seasonality and dismissed it.  You do know
that oranges are ripened in a building, don't you?

Do you know that bananas grow in Ireland?.. In a tax fiddle years
ago, during one of our financiaal crises, there was an tax on imported
fruit, my memory is a bit clouded, but one of the importing companies
pointed out that counting the time spent in storage/ripening, bananas 
really were Irish.
