I don't have a clue how one would know whether a monkey differentiated between "right" and "wrong", rather than "it'll work" vs "it won't work" or some such. In fact, I'm not sure how we'd know another human does, they're not easy terms to define. Got a cite? The only thing I see is a Daily Mail article referring to an Emory University study that apparently showed that monkeys knew there were social rules, but that's a bit of a stretch to "right" and "wrong", and I'm very reluctant to depend on The Daily Mail as an authoritative source. You found it. I believe I read the details in Sci Am and saw a TV show on the same study. No one says that monkeys are morally superior, you just created that straw man on your own. Of course, here, the thing was that since experiments have shown chimps recognize, and react to, unfair or dishonest behavior by one of their number, right and wrong aren't _quite_ "purely human inventions". I was watching an astronomy program and they mentioned one of the new orbiting telescopes had found an earth-like planet... except its three times our Earth's diameter and its surface temperature is about 2000 degrees F. Doesn't sound earth-like to me.

I don't believe they have the tech to find earth-like yet, but I've always suspected that planets capable of supporting life are rare. Like one in 10,000 to 100,000 stars. That would probably put the nearest habitable exo-planet 1000s of light years away. My guess on planets with intelligent life, no more than one per galaxy. -- Dan Espen

Which would put it outside the probable range of us ever making radio contact. Never mind the time delay. Just the number of photons reaching any antenna smaller than Sicily would exclude receiving a signal from Radio LUX (the most photon-intense radio transmitter) futher than around 1000 ly. >My guess on planets with intelligent life, no more than one >per galaxy.
