And I know they are religious because they head down to the mosque every week which happens to use the Masonic hall for their weekly grovelling because they don’t have their own building at all. Not completely integrated into the 21st century in the sense that they are still mostly into arranged marriages and still mostly marry someone back in Turkey, but they are fully integrated into the 21st century in all other ways.

Given the divorce statistics, our "better way" isn't really building much of a track record. How does the "old fashioned" arranged marriage thing work out in that regard? But that may just be because they are just as old fashioned in that regard as we were at one time with very little divorce at all. I wasn't making any comment about that, just the fully integrated into the 21st century bit. The other area where they are rather unusual for muslims is that there are very few multiple wives at all, just the one person in the village they come from. Since he said that it isnt 'really allowed' it isnt too clear what he meant by that, whether that was a result of Ataturk's very gung ho approach to the secularisation of Turkish society or for some other reason.

The Tax system is kinda promoting divorce. That, and the two not liking
the same TV programs. A second TV is cheap.
