They seem to acquire one somewhere. Hancock's posts have "Lines"
headers if they come to me via giganews and eternal-september, but not
if they come to eternal-september via glorb.com.

Quadribloc's have "Lines" if they come to eternal-september via
giganews(/erje.net) but not if they come via neva.ru or
highwinds-media.com/enother.net/erje.net.

Maybe some servers (giganews in particular) insert a "Lines" header?

So Pinapple must make it up and reports 1 instead of blank
or UNK.

Here is the header from your last posting, as it reached me, with
"\<lf><space>" to make line continuations where they exceed 72 characters

You can see the quite long path in terms of machines, but really just
newsguy->highwinds->eternal-september.

BAH has her clock in the newsreader on GMT, or it omits the field and
lets newsguy fill it in.

She still runs MacOS 10.4, time to upgrade?

And the Lines: header is there.

The Xref: header is from my local NNRP session, to the sambook laptop.
