I have a round d6. (It works with a weight.)
I also have a d30. The faces are two equilateral triangles
joined on a common side.

Or the 1,000 lines per minute 1403 printer, or the 1,000 cards per minute card reader. Again, at the time, it seemed amazing. Going further back, I remember being impressed that I could directly dial a long distance telephone call, without an operator's assistance. Or, watching the speedometer of an electric train hit 101 mph (which, sadly, for reasons I don't understand, they can no longer do.)

If I recall correctly, the drives were stacked two high in a cabinet with a sequencer that kept both drives from spinning up simultaneously and overloading the power circuit.

Some of the regulars said that they could remember when the train would hit top speed of 80-90MPH on sections which speed limits as low as 5MPH. In 1981 I bought a Memorex 8" Winchester drive and SASI controller for my Z-80 CP/M system. They had a promotional offer in a magazine and I jumped right on it. It was a FANTASTIC upgrade to a floppy-based system! I'd found floppies to be somewhat unreliable, files would often get scrambled. The Memorex disk ran flawlessly for years. It had a 10 MB capacity, but with the flat file structure on CP/M, it quickyl became unwieldy. I should have broken it up into 10 1 MB partitions, and this should have been quite easy in the device driver. Jon
