You'd loop the elastic strap on the end around your gas cap, then let it poke out from under the door as if there really was a tiger in your tank. In one of Red Skelton's skits, his character, Sheriff Deadeye, was going to partake in a native ritual which involved drinking a potion made from, among other things, panther drool.
