Actually exports have been declining since 2012. It's an easy
image google to find graphs.
Anyhoo... Jim Beams shuttering their main distillery for a year
for "site enhancements" :-D
<https://www.kentucky.com/news/business/article313847580.html>
. . .
The move comes as Kentucky’s $9 billion bourbon industry
grapples with a glut of whiskey and a slump in demand at home.
In response, the industry has pulled back production by more
than 55 million proof-gallons (an industry unit of
measurement) or more than 28% through August, the lowest level
since 2018.
At the same time, exports have been curtailed to major trading
partners; Canada has been boycotting American spirits since
March in retaliation for President Trump’s ongoing trade war
and U.S. whiskey sales to that country are down by more than
60% through October.
Other Kentucky companies including Jack Daniel’s Tennessee
Whiskey maker Brown-Forman also have announced layoffs or
shorter pauses in production earlier in the year.

I approve of tariffs but not the on - off, back and forth, inside trading, and screwing of ordinary investors. It makes one wonder if Trump always has to take the best piece of every improvement he makes to the country. The insider trading just happened and no one is doing shit about it. Someone please calculate where those untold billions, some 20-30 billion US dollars in insider trading came out of whose pockets? -- xGytDsqkQY8

Indeed. And that is the problem with polls in general. People are ignorant to the specifics and are not told the entire picture. It's the same for the ACA subsidies not being extended. All they hear is the dog whistle from the left "your medical costs will skyrocket". They are not told that the subsidies were temporary and due to the pandemic. They also are not aware of the huge profits the insurance companies are making nor how the ACA was doomed to collapse from day one and why it's anything but affordable. I support *fair trade* and while I disagree with Trump's constant on/off/on again with tariffs, he has a point in that other countries have been taking advantage of the US for a long time and it needs to stop. The US has goods, products raw materials that other countries want to purchase and they have similar that the US wants to purchase so why not work it out so fair trade can satisfy both sides? To me, that is the solution at least on a simple level. -- pothead Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views. Actually that is what seems to be happening as viewership is way down for the legacy media. Younger folks get their news from the net which IMHO is a good thing because you can literally hear all sides in a short time vs watching say Fox and hear all right wing or MSNow and hear all left wing. > I used "deliberately" um, deliberately. The accept news that's > *emotionally* satisfying but make a point of not checking the facts > because that might reduce their emotional satisfaction. IMHO the legacy news media have evolved into entertainment, commentary shows with news sprinkled in between to set up the commentary segments. And for many viewers the line between the two is blurred. The legacy media really needs to reinvent themselves and get back to reporting the facts and not dwelling on public interest stories as much or starting up the spin machine. -- pothead Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views.
