A couple projects for computers, sought to hide the cables
so you could not see them. That places the cables in
the 4th dimension.

"MSI places connectors on secondary side of board, so you cannot see the cabling"

     https://media.overclock3d.net/2024/01/IMG_7914-scaled.jpg

"Video card with ridiculous power-connector-hiding feature"

     https://i.pcmag.com/imagery/articles/07FjIvZr0FMmD2VhINXAmtJ-8.fit_lim.size_1844x.jpg

If Skybuck were here, he would use his patented "zillion pieces of tape"
to build a computer. And that was part of hiding cabling in another time.
But the technology of cable hiding has progressed since then.

IDIOT.

READ THE THREAD.

I was talking about computer cables. The ones that used to nearly all be
beige but now they are nearly all black. I never said anything about
outdoor rated cables. We are talking about computer cables. The ones
that connect your printer to your computer or your mouse to your computer.

I just didn't and don't understand why
everything has to be black in color as
the main color. In the end, no other
colors could be chosen or offered,
notably white.

There's white.

   https://www.gigabyte.com/FileUpload/Global/KeyFeature/2478/innergigabyteimages/pcie50img.jpg

And there's pink.

   https://www.avadirect.com/blog/the-rise-in-popularity-of-pink-gaming-pc-builds/

But the best component selection (like you care that the CPU actually works),
black components give the most to choose from. And with the current setbacks
in PC component sales, don't expect the "obscure" ones to stay in stock.

Would chips and ICs fail if their
casing were made white? Because of
light? Holy Light? :)

They would work in most cases. However, Brian Gregory's head would
explode if he saw them, and it is generally agreed that is why they are
not presently used.

Let's experiement:

Make a computer chip or IC that's packaged
in clear plastic! :)

Not the case. Nothing 'smart' has ever emanated from that source.
