Why does Thunderbird require continuous relogin to the Eternal-September
news server ?

I am running Windows 10 Pro x64 with 16 GB of ram. TB 78.11.0.

I have deleted the E-S password several times.

Thanks,
Lynn

Still using 38/linux with no interest in changing. If I do something
else for a while, when I come back it demands <something>. If I just
switch to a different newsgroup and instantly back again things work
normally. It's been this way for several years. Just choosing a
different message doesn't work, I have to go to a different newsgroup.
I liken it to banging the side of the TV to bring back the picture :-(

I don't believe that it is TB requiring relogin. My news reader is
SLRN & either E-S or slrn "times out" sometimes; even when I am
have not finished writing & doing a post. Somehow I get a msg
when I finally post, I do see the msg saying I just go relogin.
And there is need to relogin if I wait too long to read a post; but
it is 'automatically'. It has happened like that for years on the
text news reader. If you keep deleting your id/password TB
cannot relogin automatically since it could not fine the password?

SLRN is derived from unix tin, I think, & haven't been changed
for a very very long time.

The number of concurrent connections to Eternal-September is limited to
4, Thunderbird defaults to 5, this may lead to disconnect errors.
Try setting mail.server.default.max_cached_connections to 4 or less in
about:config (Config Editor at the bottom of General Preferences).

I have:
mail.server.server4.max_cached_connections,
mail.server.server5.max_cached_connections,
mail.server.server7.max_cached_connections;
all set to a value of 2.

Thanks,
Lynn
