#22002 — Update to 155.0

SubjectUpdate to 155.0
Message-ID<nfqn0tFmk0bU1@mid.individual.net>
I just installed the Thunderbird 155.0 update and it seems to have
broken Dark Reader extension. I can no longer force my BBC and Wilts and
Glos Standard (local rag) RSS feeds to display in dark mode. Thunderbird
says there are no extension updates available. If I open the feed item
in my browser, Dark Reader still works just fine, so it has to be
Thunderbird that has changed. Thunderbird's own dark message setting
still works fine on normal messages, but it never did work on RSS feeds
- which was why I added Dark Reader in the first place. With my old
eyes, it will mean switching to an alternate reader if I can't fix it.
Anyway else noticed this? Any ideas?

I agree. When an important extension gets disabled, it frustrating.
However, oftentimes after waiting a few days, the extension might get
updated so that it works again. In my case, if ImportExportTools NG
doesn't get updated I will revert to the earlier version of TB so that
it works again.

The same way I've done it in the past. And I think you're smart enough
to figure out how to do that on your own.

Of course _David_ is smart enough, John ...... I asked on behalf of
others reading here who may *NOT* know how!

I still think it'd be good for the Help|About page to have a "revert
last update" button. Just for the last one, i. e. once used it's not
there, and only for people who've had an update (manual or automatic;
obviously for those who have them set to automatic, it'd have to disable
that and warn them, so the revert didn't trigger a re-update).

The procedure for reverting has been detailed here before, and _isn't_
that trivial, for some at least; thank you David B. for thinking of them
(us)!

David, start with "About:Thunderbird" and what does it
say about your stream choice ?

If you are using the bus company tool for planning a trip,
the inputs are the start_location and the end_location.
What is your start_location, David ? Check "About:Thunderbird".

The instructions for "Mac" are different than "PC", because
the Mac comes in 68K, PPC, Intel, ARM versions of hardware,
and Thunderbird versions only cover those hardwares for
specific Thunderbird version numbers. That's a bit different
than the PC. Are we writing the instructions for Mac ? Or for PC ?
Or, should we be writing a book "the size of War and Peace" for you ?
"I would like to run Thunderbird on my toaster, tell me how."
There is a version for toasters.

Well, since you know how to do it and want it done, you probably should
take care of providing the instructions yourself. Over and out.

Prolly made a backup of his old Profile folder before he updated.
Uninstall new TB, replace Profile with old Profile, install earlier
version of TB. Abacadabra!

But David doesn't know what city he is in, nor where he wants
to go in some new location. Spelling out the details
step by step, is going to chew up a lot of paper, for
some unspecified situation with unspecified special conditions.

This is why, if Davids question was real, we would work it
step by step.

There is the -downgrade flag, there is Import for profiles,
as possible tools. David is on a Mac, and cannot arbitrarily
go back to 2.0.0.24 for example, as there is no Intel version
back in the PPC era.

I wonder why he feels the need to use Illeism?
