#664 — UnRead Messages

Since TB 88, the window in the task bar to select between read and
unread mail has been double.

View: Unread, down arrow, down arrow
Which ever arrow I click, I can change between read and unread messages.

I over the course of the last several weeks I have downloaded and
installed a new file.

It appears correctly on my Desktop.

Is there something that can be done to correct this or should I live
with it.

You'll find that line spacing in what seems like all the Mozilla stuff looks made more for fat finger touch screens.

There are ways to change the line spacing. I've been able to do some via userChrome.css

You will find lots of help by googling that subject.

Try this is userChrome.css

menupopup > menuitem { margin: 1px !important; font-size: 1.1em !important; }

Change margin and font-size for you screen resolution. Mine is 1920x1080

Beta Thunderbird?

What is the window in the task bar?

There are buttons that can be added to the Mail Toolbar to move to the
next unread message or the next message, but they don't appear there
unless the users opens the Customize window and places them there.

They can also be removed by dragging them back to the Customize window.

Have you tried safe mode using Help > Troubleshoot Mode (or Help >
Restart with Add-ons Disabled if using a release version).

The only problem is the little window you can add to your taskbar to
select read and unread messages. It can be added using the Customize
option for the task bar, and immediately appears normal. How everwhen
you use it it doubles. appears two copies of the icon but in one window.

I tried to do a fresh install but it comes back the same way. The
corruption must be in the profile folder as that is the only thing I
kept from the old installation

Okay, so the buttons you add to the Mail Toolbar like this image.

<https://imgur.com/RLZJkaF>

A fresh install still uses the same profile, so you either have an
extension problem and should try safe mode.

If that works, you need to determine the extension causing the problem.

Sorry, I have never seen this issue.

I did notice that and it was another question left unanswered.

Maybe like me he/she has all 3 versions installed.

That very problem has been annoying me for months. I'm using v78.11.0
but it has been apparent at least since v78.

I don't know about others, but it's not clear to me what you're having
difficulty with, maybe take a screenshot and highlight in a paint
package what the issue is?

The View box, which allows you to switch between AL or UNREAD Messages
in the current folder has two drop-down arrows instead of 1.

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AgUKT2U--15Hiq1U_f-0bQTj91nLjg?e=Y0geMn

In the Customise Toolbar window the icon only has a single drop-down
arrow. I have disabled all add-ons and still have this. It doesn't
change the functionality of the View box, but just looks weird.

Just a single arrow for me, TB 78.11.0, 64-bit, Win 10 Pro.

If that is the window in question, it's a button, not on a taskbar and I
do not see double arrows in that button on my Mail Toolbar in my 78.11.0
on Windows 10.

I would suggest filing a bug report, but it isn't reproducible here and
I believe one was filed for a double arrow problem and fixed awhile ago.

No, mine doesn't have the double droplist, and I can't see a way to make it.

OP This is exactly the behavior I am experiencing. Nothing I have done
seems to correct it.

Interestingly in my case when I remove the button, close and restart
TB, the button is added as a single. When I use it it reverts to the
double button, (Icon as I said originally)

What you said originally was about a window in a taskbar, which was
about as clear as mud, and took 12 posts to clarify.

Myself and 2 others don't see an issue.

Presume you've tried "restore default" when in "customise" for the toolbar?

Yes. And when I remove that tool from the toolbar and return it to the
Customise Toolbar list of unused tools, it has a single down arrow. I
then drag it to the toolbar again and it acquires the two down arrows!

I never noticed it before, but now that you mention it, I see that I
also have two. But it doesn't bother me at all.

Rather than having that drop-down box, I wish there were icons for All
and Unread there, which would make it slightly easier to switch between
them. I assume there's no way to change it to that, but if anyone knows
of a way, I'd appreciate your posting it.

Agreed that it doesn't affect functionality. I just find it annoying,
but it's not a big deal.
