from <https://contacts.google.com> you can export as csv or vcard
format, and in thunderbird/tools/address book, you can import from
either of those formats, not sure which will give best results?

One option is to use the extension CardBook to keep your online Gmail
contacts in sync with Thunderbird.

I hope you realize the OP will never see your answer if you only post it

My mistake. I saw the message in the Thunderbird newsgroup so I thought
it was posted there. Now I see that it wasn't. It was Andy's reply
that was posted to the Thunderbird newsgroup. I'm not subscribed to the
other one... oh well...

I have a follow up question on this.

I tried to followup to both alt.comp.os.windows-10 and
alt.comp.software.thunderbird and got an error which said "A News (NNTP)
error occurred: Forbidden Crosspost".

Is this because I am not subscribed to alt.comp.os.windows-10 or for
some other reason?

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks for the reply.

The only rule I see that might apply would be "alt. with", but I have no
idea what that means. Does anyone know?

I was able to post to two different alt.* test groups without any problem.

Thanks,
Bill

You may want to ask in aioe.helpdesk or in aioe.news.helpdesk groups.

<quote>
Since spam filters are unable to distinguish these messages from good
ones, the only way to stop these floods is to close a group for posting
when it receives too many messages.
<snip>
Crosspost is an easy way to circumvent this strategy. On the one hand,
the crosspost allows the attacker to multiply the target groups of the
flood using the same number of messages because a single post will be
shown on several groups. On the other hand, crosspost allows the
attacker to multiply the number of messages he can post through my
server before a group is closed.

At this point, my priority is to protect usenet users from floods, the
crosspost ban is for that. I agree that the crosspost ban is not a good
thing but at the moment it is a necessary cost. It will be removed as
soon as possible.
