#38 — Message header pane

I find the message list pane, the message pane header, and the message
pane itself all tend to run into one visually.

Has anyone got any hints on what classes/ids I would add within
UserChrome.css to show the message pane header background as mid grey?

.panel-header {
     background-color: #999999 !important; }

Change the 9's to A's or B's etc to make it lighter.

/* colorize the header pane just the first line, from email address */
#CompactHeader_collapsed2LHeaderViewFirstLine {
      background-color: #D1E0E0 !important; }  /* pale blue */

The thicker lines setting works (so I am editing the right file!) but
none of the background colour settings seem to have any effect.

after correcting a typo, my original

.main-header-area { background-color: #999999 !important ;}

is working, just need to find the right shade ...

Thanks I'd experimented with ".main-header-area" but it didn't have any
effect, unfortunately neither does using ".panel-header" as above

I have enabled the legacy stylesheets preference.

and the UserChrome.css is in [profilefolder]/chrome/

That would be userChrome.css and not UserChrome.css

I presume it's only case sensitive on *nix, as I got it working in the
end with an uppercase U, but I'll rename it in case I ever move the file
to my Fedora box, but I generally don't use email there ...

Have you tried the built-in Dark theme?

It's a bit stark for my liking ...

I find it interesting how "dark" themes are somewhat prolific. A lot of software is enabling it now, and if you hunt for themes, a lot of
them are dark. I'm on Linux and system wide themes here are leaning to dark.

I don't like dark, but then I don't like stark white stuff either. I'm made a theme for myself that is in between with colors.
